Footwork

Footwork drills may not be the flashy parts of training used in media workouts, or the most fun part of training, however the value of great footwork cannot be understated.

-

The fighter with superior foot work often dictates where & when exchanges take place. Allowing them the ability to control the pace of the fight and maintain more dominant positions like holding the centre of the ring.

-

Offensively, footwork allows a fighter to better cut off an opponent’s escape and keep the pressure on. Defensively, footwork can be used to evade attacks at crucial times and create opportunities for counters.

-

Skipping, shadow boxing, ladder and cone agility drills, partner drills and sparring can all contribute to developing quality footwork.
